Life in the Fast Lane
A blog about my experiences as a reporter.
People tell me I look exhausted, and I am. However, I’m not tired in the negative connotation of the word. I guess I would say that I’m fulfilled to the point of physical weakness. I’ve been at the Walter Cronkite School from 7am to 5pm, two days in a row, and I have been kept off the streets and out of crime as a result.
The first day I became oriented with the school and the cozy desk and computer. I went to a writer’s workshop, which is always interesting for someone who enjoys writing as much as I do. (The little things I enjoy about journalism are the lame clichés I get away with using as article titles. Score!)
The first day, I went to the park and had a free barbeque while enjoying the sounds of 80’s rock. I spent a great deal of time pondering what the art piece commanding most of my eye contact was, but isn’t that the joy of human imagination?
I also had the opportunity to go see Voices of Valor after I was done working later that night. Everyone in the room with me is tired of me raving about the performance. (Go check out my review under News!)
Today, I had the pleasure of sitting in and reporting on four different seminars. Each experience was unique and I found that truly enjoyable experience at the conference.
Before one of the seminars, I led a group of girls from the Convention Center to the Walter Cronkite school and found myself to be as lost as they were, but I didn’t tell them and we arrived at the school eventually, well, in enough time to make them fashionably late for their seminar.
When I get home I am usually too tired to do anything but pick out my clothes for tomorrow and go to bed, but reporting this Convention is such an exhilarating experience I wouldn’t give it up for a few nights worth of good sleep.
